Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest - which social network is suitable for your company and your products? Find here a concise and rough overview of the three social networks Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest.
Not every social media channel is equally suitable for your target group. You should always keep in mind which product or service you want to focus on and who you want to reach with it. From our own experience we recommend: less is often more. Or better: don't dance at all weddings at the same time.
Tip: Rather manage one or two social media channels properly according to a clearly predefined strategy, instead of filling all channels half-heartedly with content.
Always ask yourself the following three questions in advance to choose the right social media channel:
- Does my target group actually use the platform?
- Does my content meet the requirements specific to the channel?
- Do the platform requirements match my brand?
While Instagram and Pinterest are very image-heavy channels, they are completely different in the way they work. Facebook as an alrounder platform, on the other hand, is nowadays mainly used as a news or opinion platform and is suitable for all economic and political topics. For example, the financial industry and other companies from the financial sector can disseminate informative content and news (for internationally operating companies, Twitter is also suitable instead of or in combination with Facebook).
Compared to other platforms, Pinterest is used actively and daily by fewer users, but from my own experience it is particularly suitable for food, healthy lifestyle, furniture/deco and beautiful product images. The image network still appeals primarily to women between 25 and 39 and acts as a source of inspiration. That's why companies should place the topics of cooking and nutrition on Pinterest in particular. A successful example here is Maggi to name.
On the photo-sharing platform Instagram, the focus is primarily on self-expression and self-affirmation, according to a study. The use of Instagram is recommended for brands from the food, fashion or cosmetics industries and other brands that represent lifestyle and positively connoted content. Attention-grabbing image content that stands out in the timeline offers your brand and products the chance to present themselves positively to your target audience. Tip: Pay attention to good images, because the most important thing on Instagram and Pinterest is the image quality.
